William Bourne was asked by Room151 to respond with an LGPS view on the Prime Minister and Chancellor's open letter to pension funds challenging them to invest more in British companies. There is more that the LGPS can do, but it is not as simple as they suppose. There are substantial practical barriers, and pension funds are not supposed to be vehicles for high risk investments.
